Dipstick collects nothing.

This policy covers Dipstick: Car Maintenance Log, a DIY vehicle maintenance log for iPhone. Dipstick is made by Wade Bruce, doing business as Brucelabs ("I", "me", and "my" in this policy). It is effective September 26, 2026.

The short version: Dipstick has no account, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your data stays on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud, where I can't see it.

What I collect

Nothing. Dipstick has no server of its own and doesn't include any analytics, advertising, or other third-party SDKs. I don't sell or share your data, because I don't have any.

Where your data lives

Your vehicles, maintenance records, reminders, and settings are stored on your iPhone. If you use iCloud, Dipstick syncs and backs them up to the private CloudKit database in your own iCloud account. Apple stores that data under your Apple Account, and I have no access to it. How Apple handles iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Maintenance reminders are local notifications. Your iPhone schedules and shows them, and nothing is sent to me or over the internet to deliver them.

Purchases

Dipstick Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple processes every payment. I never see your name, your Apple Account, or your payment details. Dipstick checks whether Pro is active using Apple's StoreKit on your device. Apple sends me aggregated sales reports that don't identify you.

Crash reports

If you've turned on "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may send me anonymized crash reports and similar diagnostics. You can turn this off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

If you email me

If you write to me, I get your email address and whatever you put in the message. I use it only to reply, and I won't add you to any list. Ask, and I'll delete our conversation.

Your choices and rights

You can export or delete all of your Dipstick data in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes the data on your iPhone, and you can remove the iCloud copy in iOS Settings under your Apple Account's iCloud storage. Because I don't hold any personal information about you, there's nothing for me to access, correct, or delete on my side. That holds for rights under the GDPR, the CCPA, and similar laws, and I don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it. If you have a question about your rights where you live, email me and I'll help.

Children

Dipstick isn't directed to children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll post the new version on this page with a new date. If a change affects what Dipstick collects, I'll say so here before it takes effect.
